Free Job Fair Coming To Forest Hills On Wednesday

Event organizers — Commonpoint Queens, Donovan Richards, and Queens' Chamber of Commerce — hope the fair supports Queens' pandemic recovery.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — A Forest Hills-based non-profit is trying to help locals who have lost their jobs amid the pandemic.

Commonpoint Queens is hosting a job fair on Wednesday, Dec. 1 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 67-09 108th Street in Forest Hills.

The job fair includes representatives from more than 60 businesses — including Northwell Health, Hyatt, and FedEx — across an array of industries, like business administration, health care, and transportation.

“Connecting Queens’ top-notch talent with available job opportunities is at the heart of our economic recovery as we build a stronger, fairer borough post-pandemic," said Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, whose office is co-hosting the job fair alongside Commonpoint Queens and the Queens Chamber of Commerce.

Danielle Ellman, Commonpoint Queens' CEO, echoed Richards' sentiment, saying that connecting community members with work is crucial to Queens' pandemic recovery.

"It is all of our responsibilities to ensure that our neighbors have access to meaningful jobs that pay a living wage," she said, noting that Commonpoint Queens offers an Employment Hub in Elmhurst, in addition to its job-related programming.

Attending the job fair is free, but jobseekers need to show proof of vaccination, wear masks while at the event, and pre register.
