GoFundMe Raises $30K In A Day For Family Of Queens Fire Victims
More than 400 people have donated to help the Queens Village family after a fire ripped through their home, killing three and injuring 8.

QUEENS VILLAGE, QUEENS -- It takes a village.
That's how, in just one day, a GoFundMe managed to raise more than $30,000 for a Queens Village family who lost three of its members and the roof over their heads to massive house fire.
The three-alarm blaze, which broke out Saturday night at the Kainth's family home near 211th Street and 93rd Avenue, killed three and injured eight, Patch Previously reported. It took 140 firefighters around two hours to extinguish.

On Tuesday, Baruch College’s United Sikh Association sprang into action, launching a GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign titled "Kainth Family Fire Tragedy" with a goal of $50,000.
"They lost everything in this horrific event; such as clothing, personal belongings, memories and even the roof over their head," the GoFundMe read. "We want to help them get back on their feet and support them in this challenging process."

Donations began pouring in instantly, and less than 24 hours later, more than half their goal had been raised by more than 400 strangers and loved ones alike.
Eleven family members ages 6- 87 were in the Kainth house when the fire erupted in the family's 2 1/2 story home. Among them was Harleen Kaur, 32, who saved her children after the blaze broke out but died after reentering the burning building to save others, the BCUSA wrote.
Grandparents Ragvir Kaur-Kainth, 82, and Pyara Kainth, 87, also perished in the fire.
The blaze hospitalized several others in the family, leaving an 8-year-old girl and two men, ages 53 and 56, in critical condition, authorities said. Most are still in the hospital recovering, the family said.
BCUSA said it launched the GoFundMe because one of the family members was "like family to us, and no one's family deserves to suffer alone."
All money raised will go toward the immediate Kainth family affected by the fire, the GoFundMe states.
"The Kainth household treated everyone like family and always tried their best to put a smile on everyone’s faces," it read. "It is our duty as human beings to give them the same love and care that they shared with everyone."
