Group Of Veterans In Forest Hills Hosts Memorial Day Parade
A Memorial Day parade is slated to take place on Metropolitan Avenue on Sunday, May 28.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — A Memorial Day parade is slated to take place on Metropolitan Avenue later this month.
American Legion Forest Hills, a veterans organization, will host this year's Memorial Day Parade on Sunday, May 28, with an opening ceremony starting at 11 a.m.
"For over 60 years, it has been a tradition in our community during Memorial Day weekend to honor our local veterans and all servicemembers," said Michael Arcati, commander at the American Legion Continental Post #1424.

The event will also commemorate the 100th anniversary of Forest Hills Stadium. Lieutenant Joseph Hunt, who served during World War II, will be honored by the West Side Tennis Club and the stadium.
Hunt won the U.S. Open men's singles championship in 1943 at Forest Hills Stadium.

The veteran group has been collecting donations for the parade, which costs an estimated $20,000.
