Halloran To Run For Congress in Forest Hills
Northeast Queens Councilman makes bid in central district.

Notheast Queens Councilman Dan Halloran plans to break into new territory in the borough — Flushing and Forest Hills.
Halloran, R-Whitestone, will be running for the newly formed Sixth District. He has the nomination of the Queens GOP, and will also be running as the Conservative Party nominee.Â
According to a statement issued by his Council District spokesman Steven Stites, "Halloran is running to create jobs; reinforce support for Israel, America’s strongest ally; and create energy alternatives to reduce the price of gasoline on hardworking families." Â

Currently, three Democrats have said they will vie for the seat. Assemblyman Rory Lancman, D-Hillcrest, Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley, D-Middle Village or the Democratic party pick, Grace Meng will
The District, which was drawn into existence by redistricting this month, encompasses parts of Bayside, Forest Hills, and Flushing among other areas. U.S. Rep. Gary Ackerman, D-Bayside, for re-election after three decades in Washington.

The creation of the district also — a political ally of Halloran — into a Senate race.
The campaign event will take place on Monday at 5 p.m., at Bowne Park in Flushing, near Halloran’s home.
