Here's Where $1 Million Will Be Spent In Forest Hills, Rego Park

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — After residents in Forest Hills and Rego Park decided where they wanted capital funding to be spent this year, three projects made the cut.
Lynn Schulman, Council Member for District 29, announced Monday that three projects in Forest Hills and Rego Park will get funding from the Fiscal Year 2024 city budget.
The district is set to install new tree pits on Yellowstone Boulevard, between Austin and Burns Streets, by using $101,000 of the funds.

P.S. 174 William Sidney Mount is expected to get new sanitary, accessible, and age-appropriate bathrooms, with $150,000 going toward each restroom.
The city will also help replace water fountains with new bottle refilling stations at P.S. 220 Edward Mandel, granting $8,000 per water fountain.

Participatory budgeting ran from March 25 to April 2, a period when residents can vote on how to spend $1 million dollars in capital funding to support projects in their communities.
The projects that didn't get sufficient votes include an adult fitness area at Yellowstone Park and new tree pits on Metropolitan Avenue.
