IKEA In Rego Park Will Shut Down This December
The IKEA store in Rego Park is closing less than two years after its opening.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS – The IKEA store in Rego Park is set to close its doors in December, less than two years after its opening, the company confirmed Wednesday.
The Swedish furniture store opened its first Queens location in Rego Park in January 2021 inside Vornado Realty Trust’s three-story shopping center at Queens and Junction boulevards.
“We remain committed to the New York City area,” an IKEA US spokesperson told Patch. “As we look toward future growth and transformation progress, we will continue to test, explore and develop our IKEA formats to meet our customers where they are.”

Vornado Realty Trust did not immediately reply to a request for comment from Patch.
The 115,000-square-foot store opened with efforts to be “the first Ikea of its kind in the United States,” catering to New Yorkers who would benefit from items meant for small spaces.
