The 12-person "Spanglish Fly" band will shut down 70th Road between Queens Boulevard and Austin Street for a free concert on Thursday.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS -- Music lovers, mark your calendars: The streets of downtown Forest Hills will transform into a jazz hall for a free concert Thursday evening.

The Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce is bringing back its signature "Jazz Thursdays" series to 70th Road between Austin Street and Queens Boulevard, and its latest free show will be on Aug. 23 from 7 to 9:30 p.m., according to the chamber's website.

The two-part series kicked off its fourteenth year last Thursday with a performance from Brooklyn-based saxophonist LA Blacksmith and Jazz Plus. The musicians dedicated their show to jazz greats Wayne Holmes and Grover Washington.

Spanglish Fly, a crowd favorite from last year, will be playing the stage this Thursday. The 12-person band is known for its "Latin Boogaloo" style of music, which mixes 1960s soul and R&B music from the streets and clubs of Spanish Harlem, according to their website.

The bands lead singers, Mariella Gonzalez and Paloma Muñoz, will belt their lyrics in English and Spanish alongside an instrument lineup with three percussionists, four horns, swinging bass, a piano and an organ.
