FOREST HILLS, QUEENS – A hospital in Forest Hills received a ‘B’ in hospital safety based on how well the facility keeps patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors, according to a report from a watchdog group released Wednesday.

The grade is still better than the overall ‘D’ ranking New York City hospitals received in the fall, The Leapfrog Group's Fall 2022 Hospital Safety Grades report.

“Whenever information contained in the various 'hospital report cards' identifies a potential quality issue, the public can rest assured that we are already aware of it and working aggressively to resolve it,” a spokesperson for Northwell Health told Patch.

LIJ’s grade is an improvement from the ‘C’ mark it received in the report, which is released twice a year in the spring and fall, earlier this year.

“We take hospital report cards seriously and use them for their intended purpose — to improve the quality of care to our patients,” the spokesperson said.

Out of the 44 hospitals graded citywide in the report, just five hospitals earned an "A" grade, according to the ranking.
