Man Killed After Falling Off E Train In Rego Park: NYPD

The man was moving between cars when he slipped and fell onto the tracks near the 63rd Drive- Rego Park station Tuesday morning, cops say.

REGO PARK, QUEENS -- A 63-year-old man was killed falling off a moving Manhattan-bound E train in Rego Park on Tuesday morning, police said.

The man was moving between cars on the train at around 6 a.m. on Tuesday when he slipped and fell onto the tracks as it was pulling into the 63rd Drive-Rego Park subway station, an NYPD spokeswoman told Patch.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An NYPD investigation into the man's death temporarily shut down E, F, and R service in both directions between Forest Hills-71 Avenue and Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue stations, the MTA said. M train service was also suspended both ways between Forest Hills-71 Avenue and Essex Street stations.

Service resumed by around 8:20 a.m., but the MTA reported heavy delays on the lines as congestion began to clear.

The Long Island Rail Road is accommodating MetroCard holders at stops in Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Jamaica and Penn Station, the MTA said.
