Man Smashes Salon Windows, Steals Cash

Police searching for suspect in smash-and-grab robbery.

Police in Forest Hills and Rego Park are on the lookout for a suspect in a smash-and-grab robbery committed at a local salon last month.

The suspect used a hammer to smash the front windows of a Rego Park salon on 63rd Drive at 3:20 a.m. on Feb. 7. The man then forced his way inside, stealing money from a cash register and a portable radio from behind a counter. 

The suspect was caught by a sureveillance camera at the time of the incident. He is described as 5'8" between 160 and 170 pounds around 35- or 40-years-old. He was wearing a dark jacket at the time of the incident.
