Man Who Killed Pregnant Lover Sentenced To 26 Years-To-Life: DA
Prosecutors say 3-month pregnant Jennifer Iriogyen's last words were a cry for help; "He's trying to kill the baby."

REGO PARK, QUEENS — A Rego Park man who stabbed his pregnant girlfriend to death has been sentenced to over 26 years in prison, Queens prosecutors said.
Anthony Hobson, 51, faces between 26 years and life in prison after Justice Michael B. Aloise issued his sentence in Queens Supreme Court Thursday, the District Attorney's office announced.
Hobson was convicted of murder earlier this month for the fatally stabbing of Jennifer Iriogyen — a 35-year-old mother-of-one later identified as Hobson's girlfriend — in the stairwell of a Ridgewood apartment in February, 2019, prosecutors said..

Hobson repeatedly stabbed Iriogyen in the neck, chest, and stomach, the DA said.
According to prosecutors, 3-month pregnant Iriogyen's last words were a call for help; "He's trying to kill the baby!"

Hobson ran away from the apartment with the murder weapon, which was never found but was believed to be a steak knife, prosecutors said.
He's now serving extra time — up to 4 years in prison — for tampering with evidence, on top of the 25 years-to-life second degree murder conviction, according to the DA.
Said District Attorney Katz in a statement, "Today's sentence brings the defendant to justice for a brutal crime."
