Person Steals Old Man's Car, Crashes It Into Rego Park Building
The thief was last seen a month ago in Rego Park, when he sped away from police in the elderly man's Chevy and crashed it into a building.
REGO PARK, QUEENS — An unknown person stole an elderly man's car on July 7, and was last seen by police the following day in Rego Park, when he tried to speed away from the authorities and crashed the car into a building, the NYPD reported.
On Wednesday July 7, around 3:55 p.m., an 82-year-old man double parked his black, 2004 Chevy Express van in front of 25-15 157 Street, and left the engine running, police said. When the elderly man left the car, an unknown man got in and drove away down 157 Street, according to the NYPD.
The following evening, on Thursday July 8 around 6:16 p.m., the car thief was seen by police, driving the stolen Chevy near Alderton Street and 63 Drive in Rego Park.

After seeing the police, the man tried to speed away from the authorities and crashed the Chevy into a nearby building.
He then ran away from the area down 63 Drive. As of a month later, on Aug. 6, the police are still looking for him and no arrests have been made.

The NYPD described the man who stole the car as having blonde hair and a heavy build. He was last seen wearing a red shirt.
