Queens Drag Racer Fleeing Cops Hit With Driving Charges: LI Police

Michael Beyer, of Glendale, was "weaving in and out of traffic" in an attempt to get away from police investigating drag racing, cops said.

QUEENS, NY — A central Queens drag racer tried to speed away from authorities investigating drag racing on Long Island over the weekend, police said.

Michael Beyer, of Glendale, Queens, was "preparing to race" down a street on Long Island Sunday afternoon when officers — who were responding to a drag racing call — turned on their lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

Beyer, though, sped off, police said, adding that he was "weaving in and out of traffic" before stopping at an intersection on the edge of the hamlet of Hauppauge.
