Queens School Evacuated Due To Smoke From Nearby Fire: NYPD

PS/IS 128 in Middle Village was evacuated Friday morning after smoke from a nearby fire overwhelmed the school, police said.

MIDDLE VILLAGE, QUEENS — A Middle Village school was evacuated Friday morning after smoke from a nearby construction site billowed into the building, police said.

Authorities evacuated students and faculty from the kindergarten through eighth grade school on 69th Place between Juniper Valley Road and 65 Drive at about 8:45 a.m., a police spokesman said.

Smoke from a "rubbish fire" at a neighboring construction site flooded the school. Students and teachers were evaluated by medics but no one was taken to the hospital for further treatment, an FDNY spokeswoman said.
