Spider-Man Fan Pushing For Forest Hills Statue: Report
Local resident Larry Ng is leading the effort to memorialize Spider-Man in his fictional neighborhood, the Forest Hills Times reported.
FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — Statues of soldiers and sailors in Forest Hills could soon be joined by Spider-Man — if one local resident gets his way, according to a new report.
Larry Ng, who's lived in Forest Hills since 1983, told the Forest Hills Times that he wants to see a Spider-Man statue built in the superhero's fictional hometown.
"What is interesting was that he was a normal teenager who did normal teenage things with normal teenage problems," Ng told the site of Spider-Man's alter ego, Peter Parker, who was raised at 20 Ingram Street and attended Forest Hills High School in the original comics.

Ideally the statue will be prominently displayed on Queens Boulevard, Ng said, though he's willing to be flexible based on the time and effort needed for approval (a complicated process, even for the most notable of statues).
But, the Forest Hills resident is determined, having already tapped Dave Cortes, the sculptor behind a (controversial) Captain American effigy in Brooklyn, to make the Spider-Man piece.

"With great power, comes great responsibility," the statue base will read, highlighting one of the superhero's most iconic statements.
Ng is "confident" that his plan will come to fruition, having already amassed a pair of supporters, the Forest Hills Times reported.
For more information, Ng directed neighbors to the "Spider-Man Forest Hills Statue Project" website where they can add comments and (eventually) give donations.
Patch couldn't get in touch with Ng for further comment.
