FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — A popular local taco chain is opening the doors to its first Forest Hills outpost this Tuesday.

Tacombi, a self-described "taco-slinging" eatery with 10 locations across the city, will open at 71-22 Austin Street on Dec. 6th, after offering takeout and delivery in the neighborhood.

The eatery launched its first Queens outpost in Long Island City at the end of May — at which point operators also announced plans to open a location in Forest Hills, the Queens Post reported.

Although the Long Island City location was Tacombi's first spot in Queens, it's not the first appearance the restaurant made in the borough.

At the beginning of the pandemic Tacombi started an initiative called Tacombi Community Kitchen, aimed at feeding New Yorkers who were going hungry — specifically in neighborhoods where many of their employees live, Queens included, reported CBS New York.

The community kitchen has now donated over 180,000 meals to date, according to the website.

Tacombi has been in New York City for over a decade, but before its flagship location in Nolita the eatery operated out of a Volkswagen trailer in Mexico back in 2005, according to the website.

Since then, the taco joint has opened locations across Manhattan and Brooklyn — from the Upper West Side to Fort Greene.

Tacombi at 71-22 Austin Street will be open for indoor dining (for vaccinated patrons) from noon to 9:00 p.m. seven days a week.
