Teen Arrested In Forest Hills School Shooting Threat: NYPD, Report

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — A teenager was arrested after threatening to shoot up his Forest Hills school last week, according to police and reports.

The 16-year-old was arrested May 27 and charged with aggravated harassment, according to the NYPD.

A police spokesperson told Patch he couldn't confirm that the arrest was related to a school shooting threat, but NYPD sources told The New York Post that the teenager threatened to shoot students at the Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School in Forest Hills.

The student used school computers to search ways to buy firearms, police told The Post, and he told some classmates that he "wanted to obtain a firearm and shoot several students at the school," other teens told the outlet.

People who saw his behavior reported him to school safety agents, police told The Post. The teen was then confronted, admitted to the threats and was taken to the Forest Hills police precinct where he was charged, according to the outlet.

The teenager went home with his parents after a juvenile report was written up, The Post reported.

"In this climate, they’re not going to take that s***" an NYPD source told The Post, alluding to the latest mass school shooting in Uvalde, Texas where a gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School killing 19 students and two teachers.

Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School is a Sixth through 12th grade school located on the edge of Forest Park at 91-30 Metropolitan Avenue.
