Teen Dead After Driver Crashes Car Into Highway Median, NYPD Says

News of this accident comes after a weekend of fatal car crashes​ in New York City where drivers killed four people.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — A teenage passenger died last month after a young man crashed a car into a highway median, according to the NYPD.

On Jan. 27, a 24-year-old man reportedly walked into the Forest Hills police precinct and admitted that two days before he'd been driving a sedan on the Grand Central Parkway and crashed the car into a center median, police said.

An as-yet-unidentified 18-year-old who was in the passenger seat at the time was taken to Jamaica Medical Center in "stable condition" after the accident, but died "from her injuries" on Jan. 27, according to the NYPD.

Police, who reported this incident on Feb. 8 — nearly two weeks after it happened — said that the NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad is still looking into the situation.

As of Feb. 8 there are no arrests and no criminality is suspected, police said.
