Thursday: Concert and Knitting Workshop at the Y, Picture Book Time at the Library

The Forest Hills Library, located at 108-19 71st Ave., will hold its Picture Book Time class for children, ages 3 to 5 years, today at 3:30 p.m.
The program allows kids and their parents to listen to stories and rhymes, sing and play movement games. Preregistration is required.
The Central Queens the Y, located at 67-09 108th St. in Forest Hills, will host The Liberated Shawl: A Knitting Workshop from noon to 3 p.m.
During the class, attendees will learn the principles of how to knit a triangular, ¾ circle and a full circle shawl. The event is free for members, but costs $2 for nonmembers.

The Y will also host a performance by Jin-Xiang Yu, a musician from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. She will perform songs from “South Pacific” and other Broadway musicals as well as numbers from popular operas and holiday tunes.
