Wedding Cake Shop to Open This Weekend on Metropolitan Avenue

Silk Cakes, a Manhattan-based customized wedding and specialty cake shop, will debut its first Queens store this weekend in Forest Hills.

The store, located at 98-14 Metropolitan Ave., will hold a grand opening on Jan. 25.

The store’s regular hours will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday through Sunday. Silk Cakes will be closed on Mondays.

“We are very excited about our new location,” said Judy Lai, owner of Silk Cakes. “The Metropolitan Avenue location is the perfect spot for us and we are looking forward to becoming a part of this vibrant community.”

The store custom makes wedding cakes with ingredients and designs that are Asian inspired, such as green tea.

The Forest Hills branch will feature popular Silk Cakes combinations, including chocolate cake with green tea butter cream and semi-sweet chocolate truffle, black sesame cake with yuzu butter cream and green tea truffle and Thai tea cake with condensed milk butter cream and white chocolate truffle.

The shop will also sell high quality coffee and tea brands.

Silk Cakes launched its first store on Ludlow Street in Manhattan in 2006. For more information, visit the store’s website.
