Neighbors Fuming Over Smoke From Fort Greene Restaurant
Residents complained that Mettā blowing smoke into their windows made it like living next to a campfire, the New York Post reported.

FORT GREENE, NY — A restaurant known for cooking all their food over in an open flame oven has residents fuming over the smoke billowing into their windows, the New York Post reported.
Residents have put up flyers and left negative reviews online for the 197 Adelphi St. eatery Mettā because their wood flame grill vents smoke through their roof and into buildings next door.
"This place is polluting our neighborhood and our homes with their thick wood smoke, forcing us to keep our windows closed," Christopher Saporita wrote on the Facebook's website.

Frustrated neighbors made 18 complaints to the city since Mettā opened last year and the Department of Environmental Protection Agency issued them an air-quality violation in May, the Post reported. The case will go in front of the Environmental Control Board next month.
Nearby building owner Virginia Priest told the Post that she's lost tenants because of the smell from the eatery's smoke, which sometimes sets off her smoke alarm if she keeps her window open.

Mettā opened in March of last year with several different open flame cooking methods to char up meats and vegetables, the New Yorker reported. Almost immediately, neighbors complained the eatery made them feel like they're living next to a campfire and tried to get the eatery to cut the smoke, the Post reported.
