We found the creepiest and spookiest places to get your scare on this Halloween season.

LONG ISLAND — Spooky Season is here, and there are plenty of places across Long Island you can go to get your fright on.
If you're looking for a scare, Patch has compiled a list of the active haunts on Long Island. This year's list also includes some of the spookiest home haunts from people across Long Island who get into the Halloween spirit.

Bayville Scream Park

The Bayville Scream Park is a Halloween theme park, and has been named the scariest haunted house on Long Island many times. It features seven different attractions: Bloodworth Haunted Mansion, Bayville Haunted Asylum, Uncle Needle's Funhouse of Fear in 3D, Temple of Terror, Evil in the Woods, The Cage and Nyctophobia.
The park is currently open on weekends, and will be open more dates the closer Halloween gets. Tickets to the six main attractions are $56.75 (or $79.75 on weekends closer to Halloween). You can get Nyctophobia added to your ticket for $5. Speed Passes are an extra $18. Check the park's website for more info on purchasing tickets and hours.
Darkside Haunted House
5184 NY-25A, Wading River
The Darkside Haunted House is Long Island's premier haunted attraction. It was named one of Buzzfeed's scariest 25 haunted houses in America, and the 15th scariest haunted house in the country by Travel and Leisure. Come make your way through the newly expanded haunted village. Then the terror continues as you explore the new, updated haunted house. Come experience the movie-quality sets, the bone-chilling special effects and the heart-pounding scares that make the Darkside Haunted House the place to be.
The haunt is open every Friday in October from 7 p.m. to midnight, every Saturday in October from 6 p.m. to midnight, every Sunday in October from 6 to 10:30 p.m., and Oct. 13, 20, 26, 27 and 31 from 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 12 and 19 will be “No Jump Scares Night” from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $35. Chambers of Hell
1745 Express Drive North, Hauppauge
The Chambers of Hell is one of Long Island's most popular haunted houses. This year, there are three attractions: Cinema of Terror, Alic’s Nightmare and Mangled. There’s also the return of Escape the Haunt – a 45-minute escape room experience incorporating live actors.
The Chambers of Hell is open various dates in October through Halloween. Tickets start at $30 for value nights for all three haunted houses. VIP passes, which have shorter wait times, are also available and start at $50. Tickets can be purchased in advance online, or with cash only at the door.
Gateway's Haunted Playhouse
215 South Country Road, Bellport
The Haunted Playhouse is one of the scariest haunted houses on Long Island. It features a professional set and costumes, as well as fantastic actors who draw you into the horror — for better or worse.
It's open multiple days from Oct. 1 through 31, with some times being less scary for children.
Tickets are $40 per person, and $60 for the Fast Pass.
Schmitts Farm Haunt
26 Pinelawn Road, Melville
Voted one of the scariest haunted houses on Long Island, the Schmitts Farm Haunted House has been running for more than 25 years. It features both a haunted house and a haunted corn trail.
The haunt is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in October, as well as Oct. 10, 27 and 31. Oct. 10 is a special “lights out lantern night.” Tickets are $39.99-$41.99 and are for both the haunted house and haunted corn maze.
Spooky Fest at Tanglewood Preserve
1450 Tanglewood Road, Rockville Centre
The Center for Science Teaching and Learning celebrates Halloween with Spooky Fest. Sixteen acres are transformed into a family friendly Halloween event. Wooded paths, exhibits and festivities on the preserve will be featured, with eerie lighting, special effects and characters along the way. Everything is perfectly spooky and a little scary. The event features a walk through the Haunted Woods and a not-so-spooky Enchanted Forest Walk through the woods for children. There is also a kids arts and crafts area.
Tickets will have an arrival time for when your experience will start. Lines will be spaced, and social distancing will be maintained.
Spooky Fest is open Oct. 7-9, 14-16, 21-23, and 28-30 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., rain or shine. Tickets are $20 for the non-scary attractions only, and $25 for the whole experience.
Darkness Rising
800 Chettic Ave., Copiague
Darkness Rising is back, and 2022 will be its biggest year yet, with two haunted attractions.
Travel back in time to the old west and discover the mysteries of a ghost-ridden town in "The Haunting of Black Gulch." Then try and survive the violent psychopaths of a genetic experiment gone wrong in "Gentec Laboratories." This year’s event will also feature a snack bar, cafe, reserved ticketing, photo ops and gift shop.
The haunt will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in October, as well as Oct. 27 and 31. It is open from 7 p.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays, and 6 to 10 p.m. Sundays and on Halloween. Tickets are $35 for general admission, and $50 for a fast pass.
Darknight Halloween Trail
1 Ski Run Lane, Farmingville
Dark Night Halloween World: Return 2 Horror Hill is an all ages pop-up Halloween experience created by haunt industry nerds who wanted a more minimalist and immersive approach to haunting. It is like a demented fun house in the woods, designed to be wacky, thrilling and spooky.
The haunt is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in October, as well as Thursday, Oct. 27 and Monday, Oct. 31, from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $25. VIP tickets are $35.
Deepwells Haunted Mansion
2 Taylor Lane, Saint James
This year, visit Deepwells Sanitarium, Home for the Criminally Insane. Grab a visitor's pass and tour the 1845 facility. You will be brought back to a time where the preferred methods of treatment were lobotomies and electroshock. The quarantined residents of the sanitarium await you. Tour the facility’s 16 rooms, including the morgue, infirmary, torture room and padded room, to name a few. And just when you think you survived, think again. In order to exit, you must also make your way through the woods on the haunted grounds of Deepwells Mansion, where escaped inmates lurk.
The haunt is open from 7 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29. Tickets are $30 at the door, or $20 when purchased in advance online.
Frightmore Manor Cemetery (Home Haunt)
2137 Johnson Place, Bellmore
This home haunt display features lights with both static and animatronic life-size displays. Lights are displayed every evening (weather permitting). Full complete display with the addition of music and projections will be open for viewing on Halloween night from dusk to 10 p.m. where the family will be out to greet all trick-or-treaters. Each year, a new theme is selected for the garage, which can be viewed on Halloween night only. We ask that you please do not touch anything, that all children please be accompanied by an adult, and to please be respectful to neighbors while visiting.
Halloween House Long Island
Smith Haven Mall, 313 Smith Haven Mall, Lake Grove
Halloween House Long Island is a completely immersive, one-of-a-kind Halloween experience where you are transported to an all-Halloween world. Every impeccably detailed, fully realized rooms is a different Halloween theme – including Stranger Things and The Nightmare Before Christmas – designed to make every Halloween lover's experience unforgettable. However, it is a completely non-scary event. There are no actors, jump scares or gore.
The event is open every day in October. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for children on weekdays, and $30 for adults and $25 for children on weekends.
Haunted Hollow
Baiting Hollow Boy Scout Camp, 1774 Sound Ave., Calverton
The Boy Scout camp transforms for Halloween. You'll have the option to enjoy either a haunted hayride around camp, a haunted house, or both. The haunted house takes you on a journey through the camp's 3,200 square foot dining hall. Narrow hallways lead to different themed rooms, all of which you'll never forget — or never escape. The haunted hayride takes you on a nearly mile-long loop around camp. You can also enjoy a concession stand and different Halloween-themed movies.
The haunt will be open from 7 to 11 p.m. on Oct. 21, 22, 28 and 29. Admission is $20 per person.
The Haunting on Virginia Avenue (Home Haunt)
280 North Virginia Ave., North Massapequa
The Haunting On Virginia Avenue is a frightening home haunt like you’ve never seen. Taking place in the garage and backyard, you will twist and turn down dark corridors, explore ghastly graveyards and traverse dark forests. Free of charge! Spooky fun for most ages! Photos and video are encouraged!
The haunt is free. It is open Fridays and Saturdays in October from 7 to 9 p.m.
Restless Souls Haunted House Complex
301 West Hills Road, Huntington Station
Restless Souls is back. This year's haunt features four different attractions: Klownkatraz 3D, The Shack, The Dark Colony, as well as the Alien Autopsy Escape Room. The haunt is a benefit for the West Hills United Methodist Church.
The haunt is open Fridays and Saturdays from 6 to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 5 to 9 p.m. through the end of October, as well as on Halloween. Tickets are $10 for individual attractions, and $35 for all four.
Sweetbriar's Halloween Spooktacular
62 Eckernkamp Drive, Smithtown
Come to Sweetbriar Nature Center all ghoulies, ghosties, and other Halloween creepies for an evening of family fun and excitement. Enjoy eerie animal presentations, a ghostly graveyard, creepy games, scary music and spooky night trails. Special outdoor trails have been created, and the event is recommended for ages 7 and up.
The event will be held on Oct. 15 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person.
Tunnel of Terror
2080 Hillside Ave., New Hyde Park
The Tunnel of Terror is a haunted car wash, and is the spookiest ride in town. Not only will you get chills up your spine, but you'll get your car washed, too.
The drive-through haunt will be open Oct. 28-31. The cost is $45 per car, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Cohen Children's Medical Center Child Life Program.
Yaphank Trail of Terror
65 Main St., Yaphank
Voted one of the best haunted attractions on Long Island, the Yaphank Trail of Terror is back this year. This somewhat scary, family fun event features a quarter-mile walk through the woods near the Yaphank Presbyterian Church. There will also be a bonfire, movie and concession stand.
The haunt is a benefit for the Yaphank Presbyterian Church, and is recommended for people 10 and older. It is open Oct. 14, 15, 21, 22, 28 and 29 from 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $15.
Joe Allocco's The Franklin Square Horror (Home Haunt)
1148 Norbay St., Franklin Square
Come see the haunt that has been terrifying Long Island more than 25 years. Featured all over and routinely named one of the scariest home haunts in the area, The Franklin Square Horror is one of the biggest and scariest home haunt walk-throughs on Long Island! Once you enter Norbay Street you will see hundreds of feet of pure terror!
Come see the ghouls and maniacs, and witness all of the Halloween fun. Donations will be collected for Autism and Cerebral Palsy organizations, and are greatly appreciated.
The haunt will be open on Halloween from 7 to 10 p.m.
Stonywood Scare (Home Haunt)
35 Stonywood Drive, Commack
Each year, the display at Stonywood Drive grows. Hundreds came last year, and even more are expected in 2022. You can also leave donations for the NY Bully Crew Rescue.
Park your car and walk around to enjoy it to its fullest! Be sure to walk up the driveway and all the way to the front door, as you never know what could be hiding.
The haunt will be open Oct. 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30 and 31. Hours are 7 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 7 to 9 p.m. Sundays and 3 to 10 p.m. on Halloween.
The Haunting of Robert Place (Home Haunt)
4047 Robert Place, Seaford
The Haunting of Robert Place is a spooky, interactive, walk-through haunted house. It twists and turns in and around the driveway and garage with scares for all ages. With 10 different sections of scenes something is bound to scare everyone! Free of charge and open to all!
The haunt is open Oct. 21, 22, 28, 29, 30 and 31 from 6-9 p.m.
