2nd Person Charged In Connection To Nassau Murder: Police

The 19-year-old victim died of gunshot wounds, police said.

MINEOLA, NY — A second person has been charged in connection to fatal shooting earlier this month in Hempstead.

Brayan Pineda, 20, of Elmont, was arrested on Monday and is charged with first-degree hindering
prosecution, police said. He was expected to be arraigned on Tuesday.

On the afternoon of March 1, police responded to the intersection of West Graham Avenue and Peninsula for a unresponsive man with gunshot wounds, police said.

The victim, Jefferson J. Mancia-Fernandez, 19 of Hempstead, died a short time later at an area hospital, police said.

On March 3, Jeremias Ferrufino-Rodriguez, 18 of Hempstead, was charged with second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, authorities said.
