3 Officers Hurt Attempting To Arrest Uniondale Man After Disturbance: Police

Everton Brooks faces charges that include resisting arrest and assault, police say.

UNIONDALE, NY — Three officers were injured while attempting to arrest a Uniondale man for a disturbance on Sunday, police said.

Officers were informed about a verbal argument between Everton Brooks, 28, and a female victim, police said.

The argument escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in him throwing the victim's cellphone at her head, police said.

Brooks also punched her several times in the face, police said.

The victim, in fear for her life, exited the residence and called 911, police said.

Brooks was located and while police attempted to place him into custody, he became violent and combative, authorities said.

Three officers were injured during the course of the arrest, police said.

The injured officers and the victim were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and evaluation of their injuries.

Brooks is charged with three counts of second-degree assault, third-degree assault, second-degree harassment, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest, police said.

He was scheduled for arraignment on Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
