4 Injured In Nassau Apartment Fire

The early morning fire was quickly brought under control by the efforts of 16 fire departments.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — Multiple fire departments responded to an apartment fire in Hempstead early Friday morning injured four.

According to police, the fire broke out at the apartment building at 135 Clinton St. just before 3:30 a.m. The fire started in a second-floor apartment. The Hempstead Fire Department, with assistance from 15 other departments, was able to keep the fire contained and put it out.

Firefighters rescued several people from the building.

Three residents of the building suffered minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. One firefighter also had a minor injury and was treated at the scene.

The Nassau County Police Arson/Bomb Squad and the Nassau County Fire Marshall responded to the scene. Police say the fire does not appear to be suspicious, but the investigation is ongoing.
