Adelphi Student Named Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Player of the Year

Adelphi University women's lacrosse junior attacker Claire Petersen has earned Lacrosse Magazine preseason player of the year honors.
Petersen, a 2007 Wantagh High School graduate who played her first season of collegiate lacrosse last year after transferring to Adelphi from Catholic University, led the nation in scoring last spring with 128 points. With Petersen anchoring the attack Adelphi had the highest scoring offense in the nation and captured a second straight NCAA title.
During her lacrosse career at Wantagh High School Petersen received All-County accolades as a junior and senior. Petersen is majoring in health and physical education at Adelphi with career plans of being a teacher and coach.
