Garden City 8th Grader Starts ‘Cranes For Cancer’ Fundraiser
Isabella Fuertes and her friends and family are folding 1,000 paper cranes for cancer patients. You can donate to help their cause.

GARDEN CITY, NY — Garden City eighth grader Isabella Fuertes is working to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. At the GC Cares-A-Thon event, Fuertes introduced her project “Cranes for Cancer.”
“Cranes for Cancer” was inspired by the Japanese story of Sadako and her 1,000 cranes as she fights her battles against leukemia. The story explains that if you fold 1,000 cranes, a person who battling an illness shall have a wish granted.
Fuertes and her friends and family hope to fold 1,000 cranes and reach 1,000 donors to spread smiles to patients at St. Jude with colorful cranes. If you would like to support this project, please scan the QR code to make a donation.
