Garden City Considering Closing Small Section Of Euston Road
The road, by the Merillon Avenue LIRR station, would be replaced with landscaping to block noise and light from the station.

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Village of Garden City is considering closing a small section of Euston Road to improve traffic flow and parking at the train station.
The Board of Trustees is holding a public meeting on the plan at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 15. The proposal is to close the small section of road that connects Euston Road and Main Avenue. In its place, the village would extend the two islands at the location into a larger green structure.
A larger island would allow more landscaping to be planting. According to the village, not only would it look nicer, but it would also help block noise and lighting from the LIRR third track expansion project. It would also improve traffic flow in the area.

Trustees have already directed the village's engineering department to prepare construction drawings for traffic flow and mitigation of the Merillon Avenue Station lighting. They are also looking at the constructionist costs the work would entail.
