Garden City Gets $3.6 Million Grant To Improve Drinking Water

The state money will help the village improve its water filtration to remove more contaminants from drinking water.

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Village of Garden City will get more than $3.6 million in state funding to help it build a facility to remove contaminants from drinking water.

Garden City is one of 11 municipalities from across the state to get part of nearly $70 million in funding from the state Environmental Facilities Corporation. The goal of the grants is to speed up the process of building facilities to clean water.

"By investing in improving our state's water infrastructure, we are laying the foundation for regional growth and prosperity while protecting our natural resources," Gov. Kathy Hochul said. "This funding helps ensure that cost will not be a barrier as communities across the state continue to modernize treatment systems with vital infrastructure upgrades — helping usher in a greener, healthier future for New York."
