UPDATE: Train Collision Slows Commute

The Long Island Rail Road is now expecting a "near normal" rush hour Tuesday night following a train wreck earlier in the day.
3:28 p.m. updateThe Long Island Rail Road is experiencing delays of up to 60 minutes in both directions on the Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma branches due to the earlier suspension of service resulting from two LIRR work vehicles making contact with each other west of Hicksville.

The Long Island Rail Road has suspended service in both directions between Mineola and Hicksville following the crash of two service trains.
The crash took place just before noon, an MTA spokesman said. Four people were hurt on the two service trains. Two were transported to hospitals.
The spokesman said service will disrupted on both the Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson lines for some time.
