LONG ISLAND, NY — Keep your umbrellas ready, because after a week of off-and-on rain, Long Island is going to get more rain over Mother's Day weekend.

It's going to be a cool and wet weekend, according to the National Weather Service. Rain is likely to start on Friday and stick around all the way into Sunday. Up to 2 inches of rain is expected to fall on the island.

The high temperature for Friday will be around 60 degrees, but drop down to the low 50s on Saturday. Sunday will be a little warmer, and the rain should clear by late morning.

High temperatures in the mid-50s Sunday afternoon will be about 10 degrees below normal for this time of year and gusty winds will make it feel much cooler.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. South wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Friday: A chance of showers between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., then rain likely after 3 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 60. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday Night: Rain. Low around 48. East wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Saturday: Rain. Steady temperature around 51. Breezy, with an east wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: Rain, mainly before 3 a.m. Low around 45. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
