Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge For 2024 Hempstead Shooting: Police
Frederick Morillo Chavez pulled out a handgun and shot the woman in her right arm, police said.
HEMPSTEAD, NY — A man has been arrested and charged in connection to a shooting incident that took place a year ago in Hempstead, police said.
During the overnight hours of May 22, 2024, a female victim was walking eastbound on Front Street near the intersection of Sunset Drive when she was approached by a man on a moped, police said.
Frederick Morillo Chavez, 21, of New York City, pulled out a handgun and shot the woman in her right arm, authorities said.

An investigation led police tro arrest Chavez without incident in front of his residence, police said.
He is charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree robbery, police said.
