Man Punched Employee At Garden City Restaurant: Police

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Nov. 15.
Nov. 8
- Garden City detectives arrested a 43-year-old man for using a stolen credit card to buy an auto repair device valued at $4,400. He was charged with two counts of grand larceny, identity theft and possession of stolen property.
- Officers responded to Adelphi University for a dispute and arrested a 39-year-old man for punching a male victim several times in the face. He was charged with harassment.
- Six youths on bicycles were cited for disruptive behavior and traffic violations on 7th Street. They were released to their parents.
- Wallets were stolen from two patrons of a Franklin Avenue restaurant. In addition, both victims state credit cards from their wallets were used to purchase items at nearby stores.
- A motorcyclist on Meadow Street was charged with out of class operation, unsafe lane use, and passing a stop sign.
- Firefighters and police responded to a fire alarm at Adelphi University and determined it was caused by a curling iron.
- A driver was charged with driving with a suspended license on Fairmount Boulevard.

- Firefighters and police responded to the vicinity of the Nassau Boulevard railroad station where firefighters extinguished a brush fire.
- A driver on Franklin Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license and improper lane use.
- A driver on Clinton Road was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed.
- A Franklin Avenue contractor said a check placed in the mail was intercepted, altered and cashed by an unknown person.
- A homeowner discovered the key box to a newly purchased home was missing.
- Firefighters and police responded to a fire alarm at a Franklin Avenue building and determined it was activated by burnt food.
- An unoccupied vehicle in Parking Field 5 was reportedly damaged by unknown means.
Nov. 10
- Firefighters and police responded to a fire alarm at Adelphi University and determined the cause to be a fire panel issue.
- A driver on Prospect Avenue was charged with unlicensed operation and passing a stop sign.
- Firefighters and police responded to Stratford Avenue for a report of downed power lines and determined they were cable lines.
- A driver on Clinton Road was charged with out of class operation and excessive speed.

- Officers were assigned to monitor the Veterans Memorial Day ceremony on 7th Street.
- A fallen tree limb on Yale Street damaged a parked unoccupied vehicle.
- A driver on Clinton Road was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed.
Nov. 12
- A vehicle reportedly left the scene after crashing into another vehicle on Stewart Avenue at Clinch Avenue. Upon investigation, detectives arrested a 60-year-old man on Nov. 14 and charged him with leaving the scene of an accident.
- A resident reported being a victim of a computer scam after calling a phone number that was displayed on her computer screen alleging to be from Microsoft.
- A driver on Clinton Road was charged with driving with a suspended license and improper plates.
- A driver on Clinton Road was charged with driving with a suspended license and unlawful operation of an ATV on a roadway.
Nov. 13
- Officers responded to a Franklin Avenue restaurant where a 67-year-old man created a disturbance and struck an employee causing a minor injury. The man was arrested and charged with harassment, disorderly conduct and false impersonation.
- Firefighters and police responded to a residence for a fire alarm and determined the cause to be burnt food.
- A driver on Washington Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license and defective brake lights.
- A driver on Clinton Road was charged with unlicensed operation and excessive speed.
Nov. 14
- A victim reports multiple unauthorized transactions totaling more than $5,500 were charged against his bank account.
- A victim reports her identity was stolen and used by an unknown person to gain employment out of state.
- Firefighters and police responded to the Garden City Hotel for a fire alarm and determined the cause to be burnt popcorn.
- A driver on Meadow Street was charged with unlicensed operation and passing a stop sign.
- A driver on Old Country Road was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed.
- Firefighters and police responded to a residence for a smoke condition. Firefighters found a blown lightbulb and rendered the area safe.
Nov. 15
- Items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in Garden City Plaza.
- A truck driver on 11th Street was charged with driving in a no truck zone and defective brakes.
- Items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Salisbury Avenue.
- A victim’s identity was stolen and used to file for unauthorized unemployment benefits.
- A victim received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Publishing Clearing House stating he won a prize but needed to acquire gift cards and call in the numbers in order to receive the prize. The victim complied and later determined it was a scam.
