Man Tried To Run Over Nassau Officers While Fleeing Traffic Stop: PD
Police say the man also drove into a police car and injured two officers while he was fleeing.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A Nassau man nearly ran over police officers while trying to flee from a traffic stop in Hempstead early Saturday, Nassau County police said.
According to police, officers were on patrol in Hempstead around 3:15 a.m. on Sept. 17 when they saw a 2008 Nissan parked on Newman Court. Police say the car had heavily tinted windows, and officers could see the interior light was on.
The officers approached the car on foot and asked for the driver's ID, police said. According to police, the driver — Keshav Mahadeo, 26, of Hempstead — drove off. The officers gave chase in their car, and police say they pulled Mahadeo over at the intersection of Front Stree tnad High Street.

As the officers approached the car on foot, police say Mahadeo put his car into reverse and drove back, nearly hitting the two officers. He then drove forward and struck a police car, injuring two officers inside it, police said, and then fled the scene.
Hempstead Police Department officers were nearby and followed Mahadeo, police said, until his car broke down near the intersection of Front Street and Liberty Street. Mahadeo was arrested there.

During the investigation, police say they found what is believed to be crack-cocaine in Mahadeo's car. Mahadeo was taken to a hospital for evaluation. The two injured officers were also taken to a hospital for treatment.
Mahadeo is charged with two counts of second-degree assault, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and numerous vehicle and traffic law violations. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hemsptead on Sept. 18, where bail was set at $30,000 cash or $60,000 bond, which was not posted.
