GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending March 8.
March 1
- Officers arrested a 38-year-old driver on County Seat Drive for driving with a suspended license due to a prior DWI.

- Officers arrested a 27-year-old man on Franklin Avenue for driving with 17 license suspensions and speeding.
- A vehicle reportedly left the scene after driving over a Commander Avenue lawn and striking a light pole.
- Firefighters and police responded to two commercial buildings for fire alarm activations and in both incidents determined the cause to be construction.
- A driver was charged with driving on South Avenue with a suspended license and passing a Stop sign.
- A driver on Clinton Road was charged with unlicensed operation and excessive speed.
- Police investigated a report of a fraudulent $1,300 charge against a person’s mobile payment app.
- A truck driver on Tanners Pond Road was charged with driving with a suspended license and disregarding a no commercial vehicle sign.
March 3
- A driver on Stewart Avenue was charged with driving with multiple license suspensions and excessive speed.
- A vehicle left the scene after striking and damaging an unoccupied vehicle in an Adelphi University parking field.
- A driver on Clinton Road was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed.
March 4

- Items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Oxford Boulevard.
- Firefighters and police responded to a residence for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. Firefighters determined the area was safe.
- A driver on Rockaway Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding in a school zone.
March 5
- Two Social Security checks sent to a Garden City Post Office PO Box were reportedly stolen, altered, and cashed.
- A driver on Clinton Road was charged with reckless driving and excessive speed.
- Officers assisted firefighters who rescued a person stuck in an elevator inside a building on Old Country Road.
- A driver on Old Country Road was charged with driving with a suspended license and tinted windows.
March 6
- A motorist on Rockaway Avenue in the vicinity of St. Paul’s Field was charged with unlicensed operation and speeding.
- Officers assisted the Nassau County Police Department with road closures on Old Country Road for the Mineola St. Patrick’s Day parade.
March 7
- Officers responded to 1st Street where a vehicle struck and damaged a fire hydrant and a tree. A NCPD medic at the scene tended to the 67-year-old driver who was unresponsive. The medic administered Narcan, reviving the driver. The driver was then transported to a hospital for multiple injuries. In addition, he was arrested for driving while his ability was impaired by drugs.
- A man reportedly entered Walgreens and presented $600 in counterfeit bills to purchase money cards.
- Someone reportedly rummaged through a vehicle parked on Weyford Terrace.
- A driver on Clinton Road was charged with unlicensed operation and excessive speed.
- A driver in the vicinity of the middle school was charged with unlicensed operation, tailgating, and unsafe lane usage.
March 8
- Officers investigated a domestic incident on Franklin Avenue and 10th Street, resulting in the arrest of a 20-year-old man for repeatedly punching his girlfriend in the head causing pain and swelling. He was charged with assault. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
- Officers responded to Stewart Avenue for a report of a man sleeping in his vehicle in the left lane of traffic. Upon arrival, the subject was observed to be sleeping in the vehicle with his foot on the brake and the gear shift in drive. Officers carefully woke the driver and had the gear shift placed in park. The 38-year-old driver was arrested for DWI.
- A driver was charged with driving on Stewart Avenue with a suspended registration and unsafe lane usage.
