WESTBURY, NY — Nassau County Legislator Siela Bynoe has announced that she will run for Congress to fill the seat being vacated by Kathleen Rice.

Bynoe, 54, currently represents Nassau County's 2nd Legislative District. She is the first person to announce their candidacy for Rice's seat. Rice announced last week that she would not be seeking re-election.

"I am proud to announce I am running for Congress to represent the values, hopes and dreams of the extraordinary people of Nassau County's CD-4," Bynoe wrote on Facebook. "Please join me in this grassroots campaign to make sure our community has the representation in Congress we deserve."
