GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Aug. 10.
Aug. 4
- A driver was charged with driving on Clinton Road with a suspended license and excessive speed.
- An unlicensed driver was charged with excessive speed on Stewart Avenue.
- A resident reported she received a past-due payment notice for an unauthorized online account she did not open.
- A resident reported the title he received along with a vehicle he recently purchased online was a forged document.

- A driver was charged with driving on 1st Street with a suspended registration and unregistered operation.
- Police investigated the possible theft of the front grill from a vehicle parked on Franklin Court.
- As a result of an erratic driver stop on Stewart Avenue, officers arrested a 52-year-old man for DWI and unsafe lane usage.
Aug. 6
- Two people were seen on video surveillance getting off a motorcycle on Boylston Street and checking car door handles. They fled after a car alarm was activated. There is no reported loss.
- Detectives are investigating a theft of services report where a man used a voided credit card to pay for a stay at the Garden City Hotel.
- Police and fire fighters responded to Garfield Street for a burning smell. Upon investigation, it was determined the cause was MTA workers cleaning nearby train tracks.
- A driver was charged with driving on Merillon Avenue in violation of a restricted license and excessive speed.
- A driver was charged with driving on Clinton Road with a suspended registration and excessive speed.

- As a result of a traffic stop at Clinton Road and Rainbow Place for aggressive driving violations, officers arrested a 28-year-old man for DWI and unsafe lane usage violations.
- Police and fire fighters responded to a residence for smoke. Upon arrival, it was determined the cause was a burnt air conditioning motor.
- Firefighters extinguished a garbage pail fire on Franklin Avenue.
- Officers responded to a Franklin Avenue bank for a burglary alarm and discovered the entrance door unlocked. Due to the fact the premise was closed, the officers searched the interior of the bank, and all appeared to be in order. Bank personnel secured the premise.
- Officers were assigned to traffic and safety details for a Franklin Avenue protest.
Aug. 8
- The passenger side door of a vehicle parked on Newmarket Road was found damaged.
- A driver was charged with driving on Stewart Avenue with a suspended license and excessive speed.
Aug. 9
- Officers investigated a report of a truck leaving the scene after striking and damaging a vehicle parked on 6th Street.
- As a result of a traffic stop on Stewart Avenue and Oxford Boulevard, a driver was charged with excessive speed, driving with a suspended license and suspended registration.
Aug. 10
- Upon receiving a phone call from a concerned citizen, officers found a 6-year-child walking alone on Meadow Street. Officers determined the child was missing from a nearby Hempstead residence. The child was returned to his parents.
- A driver on Rockaway Avenue was charged with unlicensed operation and excessive speed.
- Officers arrested a 34-year-old woman for driving with 18 driver license suspensions, unregistered vehicle, and uninsured vehicle after a crash on Bayberry Avenue and Prescott Street.
- Police and fire fighters responded to Meadow Street for a report of a possible fire. Upon arrival, it was determined there was a smoke condition due to a shed fire nearby in Hempstead.
