Police ID Man Shot To Death In Nassau, Make Arrest In Case: PD
The 19-year-old died Saturday after the shooting, police say.
HEMPSTEAD, NY — Police have identified the man shot to death in Hempstead Saturday — and made an arrest in the case, authorities said.
According to Nassau County police, the male victim has been identified as Jefferson J. Mancia-Fernandez, 19, of Hempstead.
Jeremias Ferrufino-Rodriguez, 18, of Hempstead, has been placed under arrest and charged with second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

He was slated for arraignment on Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
The homicide took place at 12:22 p.m. at the intersection of West Graham Avenue and Peninsula Boulevard; officials were called to the scene to respond to a report of an unresponsive male, police said.

Upon arrival, officers located Mancia-Fernandez, who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds and administered medical aid, police said.
He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by a physician, police said.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
