Police Nab Motorist After Foot Chase in Carle Place
The suspect fled a traffic stop in Westbury and was captured at a shopping center on Old Country Road.
CARLE PLACE, NY — A motorist was arrested after patrol officers stopped him and he took them on a foot chase Sunday afternoon, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
Officers pulled over a male motorist near Burger King, at 409 Old Country Rd. in Westbury, at about 3:30 p.m. Dec. 26, an officer at NCPD’s Public Information Office told Patch. The PIO officer said that he was unsure exactly why the officers stopped the motorists, but that he ran from the scene and officers chased him on foot.
“For whatever reason they pulled him over and he took off,” the PIO officer said.

Police captured the suspect a short time later outside Panera Bread at the Carle Place Commons shopping center at 195 Old Country Rd. in Carle Place.
The suspect was arrested and charged with unlawful fleeing of a police officer and leaving the scene of an incident.

Police declined to disclose the name of the suspect.
One police officer suffered a minor injury during the incident and was treated at the scene of the arrest, police said.
