PSEG-Long Island To Improve Lines In Garden City
The utility will improve nearly a mile of power lines in the village to help strengthen the electrical grid.

GARDEN CITY, NY — PSEG-Long Island is going to be doing work in Garden City in the coming weeks to help strengthen some of the village's power lines.
The utility will be replacing .85 miles of mainline in Garden City as part of PSEG's Power On initiative, which will strengthen 50 miles of the most vulnerable lines in the service area.
Work in Garden City is expected to begin on March 21. It will be done at the following locations:

- Stratford Avenue, between New Hyde Park Road and Hayes Street
- New Hyde Park Road, between Stratford Avenue and Manor Road
- Stewart Avenue, between Fernwood Terrace N and New Hyde Park Road
- Rear property of homes 98-126, 99-121 and 213 on Meadbrook Road between Stratford and Stewart Avenues
- Rear property of homes 74, 78, 82, and 84 on Roxbury Road between Stewart and North Avenues
The work will include upgrading and replacing electrical wire, installing more durable poles and putting shorter cross arms on poles to help deflect falling tree limbs.
There are no anticipated power outages due to the work. If a power outage is required, customers will be notified in advance. All customers in the area are being sent a letter explaining what work will be done.
