St. Anne's Spirit Day Saturday

The celebration of unity and faith kicks off at 1 p.m.

Since 2002, St. Anne’s has welcomed the fall season with a celebration of unity and faith called Spirit Day. It’s a day filled with a wide variety of activities that keep everyone happy while bringing them closer together.

The Church of St. Anne in Garden City hosts the 11th annual Spirit Day takes place Saturday from 1-10 p.m. with rides, games and music all day and evening. A celebration of Mass outdoors takes place at 5 p.m. and the Big Bucks Raffle drawing is at 10 p.m.

“The parish and the surrounding community look forward to it each year,” event organizer Bob Crinnion said. “It’s become a great tradition for both adults and kids.”

Bouncy rides, carnival games, sweets and treats keep the little ones happy. A live band provides music all day and 'tweens can enjoy the Middle School Dance Party at 7:30 p.m. A special DJ will provide music for older teens at the outdoor showmobile in the evening.

Parents can shop at the craft fair, enjoy delicious food and refreshments and catch the winning fever after hours at the popular “Night at the Races.”

Let the gardeners of the family buy their fall mums while the would-be pitchers try their arms at the dunk tank. Everyone will enjoy a shaded seating area but only those who enter can win the $25,000 grand prize at the Big Bucks drawing at 10 p.m.

“The parish also uses the day to showcase all the great work it does,” Crinnion said. “Our Parish Ministries tent highlights many of the organizations and charitable work the parish is involved in. We punctuate that community spirit at 5 p.m. when we celebrate Mass outdoors. It’s a really special moment that reminds us of why we are here and all that we have to be thankful for.”
