Teen Charged With Murdering LI Man In His Bedroom: Police

HEMPSTEAD, NY — The victim, who died of blunt force trauma to the head last week in Hempstead, has been identified and a suspect is under arrest.

Police say 61-year-old Adiel Umanzor-Martinez was found in the upstairs bedroom with a head injury on Feb. 28.

A 17-year-old male from Hempstead has been charged with second-degree murder, police said. He was expected to be arraigned on Tuesday in the Youth Offender portion of First District Court in Hempstead.
