WATCH: Hofstra Field Hockey Wins With Last-Second Hail Mary Pass

The team was expecting to go into overtime, but eked out a Hollywood finish with seconds left on the clock.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A literal last-second goal scored turned a Hail Mary pass into a win for Hofstra's field hockey team Sunday.

At the end of the fourth quarter, Hofstra was tied 2-2 with Bryant University.

With 11 seconds left on the clock, captain Cami Larsson launched a long, 48-yard pass over Bryant's defensive line and into the path of teammate Simryn Desai. Desai picked up the pass and shot at the goal just before she was knocked to the ground by Bryant goalie Dieneke Hes.

But the shot was good, and Desai put the Pride up 3-2 with two seconds left on the clock.

"I think we all joke about Hail Marys, but to see one just fully executed and win a game with 11 seconds is pretty neat," field hockey head coach Courtney Veinotte told Fox 5 News.
