Western Wildfires Impact New York's Air Quality
The state has issued an air quality advisory for the area due to particles from the wildfires in the air.
NEW YORK STATE — Wildfires in the western United States have sent particle matter east, affecting New York's air quality, the state's Department of Environmental Conservation said.
The DEC issued an air quality advisory for all of New York on Tuesday, which is in effect until midnight.
The advisory says the air could be unhealthy to sensitive groups, which includes children, the elderly and people with existing lung conditions. Those affected people should stay indoors whenever possible.

The National Weather Service said the particle matter will also filter the sunlight in the area, which could make it look off.
Smoke and haze from the wildfires in the western U.S. can be seen drifting southeast across the Tri-State area in this satellite imagery. This will filter the sunshine here throughout the day today. pic.twitter.com/LfSay79IQy
