Woman, 80, Dies After Slamming Into Tree On Meadowbrook Pkwy.: Police
Speed and a wet highway are believed to have contributed to the Thursday night crash, state police.

UNIONDALE, NY — A woman was killed Thursday night when she lost control of her car on the Meadowbrook Parkway and struck a tree, state police said.
The 80-year-old victim, identified as Lillie Carpenter, of Roosevelt, was driving a Toyota Camry at approximately 10:30 p.m., northbound near the Southern State Parkway exit, when she lost control and slammed into the tree, police said.
Carpenter was the only person in the vehicle.

An investigation revealed that speed and a wet roadway were contributing factors to the collision, state police said.
