Woman Was Driving Drunk With Her Son In Car: Garden City Police
Police say the woman had her 11-year-old son in the car while she was driving drunk. No one was injured.
GARDEN CITY, NY — A Hempstead woman was arrested Wednesday night after police say she was found driving drunk with her son in the car.
According to police, a Garden City police officer saw a 2015 Nissan driving north on Old Country Road at 10:18 p.m. without its headlights on. The officer pulled the car over, and police say he smelled alcohol on the breath of the driver, 34-year-old Blanca Reyes-Alvarado.
Police say Reyes-Alvarado had bloodshot eyes. The officer also saw an open bottle of beer in the car, police said.

Reyes-Alvarado was driving with her 11-year-old son in the back seat. She was arrested without incident. Her son was released to a relative.
Reyes-Alvarado is charged with DWI, aggravated DWI under Leandra's Law, endangering the welfare of a child and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. She is scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.
