Babysitter Convicted Of Raping Two Children In Manhattan
The man worked as janitor in a Murray Hill church and as a babysitter for multiple Manhattan families.

MURRAY HILL, NY — A Manhattan babysitter was convicted Tuesday of raping a child in his care and a second who went to a Murray Hill church where he worked as a janitor, prosecutors said.
Milton Narvaez was convicted of 98 counts related to abusing and molesting two young children, the Manhattan District Attorney's office said. Narvaez worked as a babysitter for multiple families after meeting them through his job as a janitor at the church.
Prosecutors said Narvaez raped one child repeatedly and also raped a second child in a storage room of the church.

Narvaez, 35, worked on the custodial staff at the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church, at 630 Second Ave. Narvaez, who also went by the name Milton Gomez, repeatedly raped the child he babysat and even recorded some of these assaults, prosecutors said.
He would sometimes use the sick footage to create montages of photos and videos set to music, according to the investigation. He began sexually abusing the child in 2008 when the victim was six years old. The abuse continued for six years while Narvaez was paid to take care of the child.

In a separate incident in October 2011, Narvaez sexually abused a different child in the storage room of the church.
Narvaez was first arrested in 2015 after a routine investigation into the spread of images and videos of children being sexually assaulted uncovered videos in which Narvaez himself was abusing children. At the time, prosecutors said that Narvaez had worked as a babysitter and a nanny for multiple families and that they believed he might have abused other, unidentified children.
It took a jury less than an hour to find Narvaez guilty of the dozens of crimes he was charged with, prosecutors said Tuesday.
"There are few acts more horrific than the long-term sexual abuse of a child," District Attorney Cy Vance said in a statement. "As a babysitter and custodian with access to children, Milton Narvaez abused his position to rape two children, before further exploiting them by recording video of the acts."
He is next scheduled to appear in court on Friday. He has not yet been sentenced for his crimes.
