Dale Chihuly Sculpture Installed In Union Square
The sculpture is 31 feet tall and will remain installed through October 2018.

UNION SQUARE, NY — A Dale Chihuly sculpture standing 31 feet tall was installed in Union Square Park on Friday.
The massive pink sculpture was brought to the park thanks to a partnership between the city’s parks department, the Union Square Partnership and the Marlborough Gallery. The piece, titled “Rose Crystal Tower,” will remain on display through October 2018.
Chihuly is one of the most respected American artists and his iconic glass sculptures have been displayed around the world. He joined parks officials for the unveiling ceremony of his sculpture on Friday. “New York City’s energy, architecture and rich creative history is formidable and it continues to offer infinite inspiration for artists,” Chihuly said in a statement. “I am excited to share my work with the residents and visitors who pass through New York City every year.”
“Rose Crystal Tower” is made from steel and Polyvitro crystals, a special material that Chihuly makes by casting plastic material into glass-like chunks.

A massive exhibit of Chihuly’s artworks is currently on display at the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx. The show will remain through Oct. 29.
