Missing Former Hedge Fund Boss Found: NYPD

A former hedge funder who had become homeless and had gone missing turned up after a two-days disappearance, police said.

GRAMERCY, NY — The homeless former hedge-fund millionaire who went missing from Bellevue Hospital was found Monday, police said.

Paul Greenwald, 70, returned to Bellevue Hospital after he was reported missing from the medical center on Saturday. Security camera footage showed Greenwald, who police say is homeless, exiting the hospital wearing a red shirt with a yellow envelope in hand at 2 a.m., authorities said.

It is unclear where Greenwald was during his two-day disappearance, a police spokesman said.

Greenwald's downfall apparently began in 2009 when he began harassing his estranged wife, Michelle Greenwald, an NYU professor and author.

The former millionaire lived in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel before he was committed to Bellevue Hospital's jail ward in 2010, after specialists found him too sick to plead not guilty.
