Police Asking for Public's Help in Finding Man and Woman Who Attacked 82-Year-Old Woman

An unidentified man and woman were reported to have knocked the woman to the ground and stole her handbag, the NYPD said.

MURRAY HILL, NY — Police are asking for the public's help in identifying two people who attacked and robbed an 82-year-old woman in Murray Hill the night of Oct. 5. A woman and a man, unidentified by police, were reported to have thrown the woman to the ground in front of 36 E. 36th St., between Park and Madison avenues, at 9:35 p.m. and took her handbag. The handbag had her wallet with $200 cash in it, her keys, her ID, a flip cellphone and credit cards, the NYPD said.

The woman suffered a split lip, chipped tooth, and abrasions to her left knee and right elbow, the NYPD said. She declined medical attention at the scene, they said.

The NYPD described the man as black, around 17 years old, with cornrows. He was carrying a large black and white backpack. The NYPD described the woman as black with long, red hair. They released surveillance camera footage of the suspects running past 220 Madison Ave. just after the incident.
